Ho’olalaea Waterfall

Admire nature at its best with views of this double waterfall cascading 151 feet onto the rocks and stream below. The Ho’olalaea waterfall is better known as Opaeka’a Falls, and this is how you will see it referenced on signs and in guide books. If you want to see one of Kauai’s beautiful waterfalls but aren’t interested in a long hike to get there, Ho’olalaea is a good choice.

The lookout for the Ho’olalaea water fallis located adjacent to the parking lot. You’ll want to bring your zoom lens, as you’ll be admiring this 40-foot-wide falls from across the valley. With the Makeleha Mountains forming the backdrop and birds soaring through the steep valley below, this is a picturesque location and a great spot to spend an afternoon. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy your meal with a view. There are picnic tables and restrooms available on your Kauai adventures. Before you leave, cross the road at the pedestrian crossing for expansive views of the Wailua River.

Wailua Falls

For another nearby must-see waterfall experience, make the short drive to Wailua Falls. Also easily accessible from the parking lot, this 173-foot double falls will astound you with its raw power. With the right timing, you’ll catch a rainbow extending through the mist at the base of the falls.
