Gorge White House

In the heart of the Hood River Valley you can experience the charm and friendly atmosphere of a historic home and family-run orchard at the Gorge White House. An icon in the region for more than 100 years, this beautiful 1908 Dutch Colonial home and working farm welcomes visitors to explore their lush orchards, stroll through fields of exotic flowers, and sample fresh fruit, homemade wines and ciders, and local microbrew beers.

Paradise Valley

A family-run working farm, the Gorge White House in Hood River has been producing delicious fruits, ciders, wines, and ornamental flowers for generations. Bartlett, Golden Bosc, and Stark Crimson Pear trees are in full bloom across the beautiful grounds, and the harvest is divided between fresh fruit for sale and the House’s delicious homemade pear wine. Heirloom apple varieties, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries are harvested throughout the summer and fall, forming the base for several of their delicious hard ciders. One of our favorite parts of the farm is the decorative flower gardens which boast daffodils, gladiolas, tulips, and fragrant lilies. Zinnias, sunflowers, and vibrant dahlias round out the year’s crop, and the Gorge White House is one of the top providers of decorative bouquets and wedding flowers in the Hood River area.

Tastes of Paradise at the Gorge White House

In addition to strolling the beautiful grounds and learning about the unique history of the house, the White House Tasting Room is a popular attraction for visitors to Hood River. Their pear wines and ciders are served alongside delicious local wines and regional microbrews, with fresh fruit and hot snacks from the on-site food cart making the perfect pairing. Choose from Bosc Pear Wine, White House Pinot Noir, Blueberry wine, and a delicious new Rose. Sixteen other Columbia Gorge wineries are also featured here, and generous tasting portions are only $1 each. Relax and make new friends in the old farm shop that has been converted into a modern tasting room, enjoying stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the flowering grounds.
