If you’re an advanced skier or snowboarder, you’ll find plenty of runs to excite you. Both Mount Bachelor and Hoodoo Ski Resort provide challenging Nordic and high elevation skiing, one of the top Bend Oregon winter activities.
Bend Oregon Winter Activities at Mount Bachelor
Mount Bachelor is covered with runs for all skill levels. If you’re an advanced skier looking to try out your skills in Central Oregon, you’ve definitely come to the right place. Mount Bachelor provides the highest skiing and snowboarding in Oregon and Washington.
There are multiple double black diamond runs on the mountains, several of which reach to the top of the 9,065-foot mountain. Mount Bachelor offers a 360-degree snow sport experience.
There are also multiple advanced Nordic trails at Mount Bachelor. You have access to more than 56 km of Nordic trails, including easy loops for beginners and double diamonds.
Hoodoo Ski Resort
Though it’s dwarfed by Mount Bachelor, Hoodoo Ski Resort offers some great runs for advanced skiers. There are 12 expert runs that can be accessed via four of the resort’s five lifts.
Advanced skiers will love Hoodoo for its miles of advanced Nordic tracks and its night skiing. Hoodoo is the only ski area in Central Oregon that offers night skiing. For skiers wanting to shake things up, night skiing is one of the best Bend Oregon winter activities to give the sport a little extra oomph.
The Skyline and Sheep Spring Trails at Hoodoo are fit for both advanced and intermediate skiers.
For the advanced cross-country skier, Mount Bailey provides a thrilling overnight or weekend trip. The volcano is 100 miles south of Bend, near Crater Lake National Park. The north side of the mountain provides more challenging terrain.
If you’re looking for a bit more extra instruction and the company of fellow skiers, consider a guided trip. For $350 per person, Cat Ski Mount Bailey offers ski tours of the mountain.
