From the very first moment that you arrive at Hosmer Lake, there’s one thing that will absolutely take your breath away: the incredible natural views. With Mt. Bachelor rising like Olympus over the lake, the spanning vistas and forests provide you with absolutely spectacular views that can’t be matched anywhere else in all of central Oregon.

 

Great Opportunities for Fishing

One of the biggest draws to Hosmer Lake for both tourists and locals alike year after year is the amazing fishing opportunities that are available. Hosmer Lake itself is highly populated with both Atlantic salmon and brook trout, and the crystal-clear waters of the lake make it incredibly easy to spot the fish! The rules at Hosmer Lake allow for fly fishing only in its waters, so make sure to plan accordingly.

 

Incredible Canoeing and Kayaking

The crystal-clear waters of Hosmer Lake in Bend offer an additional benefit besides just fishing: They make for great kayaking and canoeing as well! There are three distinct areas of the lake that you’re able to explore: the open southern end, the central channel, and the northern shallow end. Each of these different areas provides and incredibly unique experience and is the perfect way to be able to get out on the water and soak up the incredible weather we are fortunate to have here in Bend.

 

Perfect Place to Set Up Camp

The South Campground (commonly referred to as the Hosmer Lake Campgrounds) serves as the primary campground for Hosmer Lake and features 23 sites that are all RV, trailer, or tent friendly. This campground is also very pet friendly, so don’t be afraid to bring your furry, four-legged friend out on your adventures with you! This campground also provided access to trails for hiking and horseback riding, so no matter what your plans for Hosmer Lake may be, you’ll have every option available to you if you stay at The South Campground! One thing to note: This campground does not have water, so you’ll have to bring your own supply.
