Springtime Fun in Sunriver
Spring is a wonderful time in Central Oregon; the earth is warming up, trees are putting out new growth daily, and wildflowers are popping out of the ground. It’s a great time to take a hike! Lace up your boots and take a walk out to Benham Falls to warm you up. This short hike will get you ready for more; take a longer trail next, along Fall River, and enjoy the wetland meadows filled with blooms.
Since spring makes you feel like getting out and about, one great way to explore Sunriver is by bicycle. With over 40 miles of paved bicycle paths winding in and around Sunriver, this is actually one of the most popular recreation options on offer! With nice and easy flat paths, and no car traffic to worry about, Sunriver is the perfect place to ride with children, even if they’re just beginning to learn. More serious cyclists can enjoy exploring the many mountain bike trails in the region or heading out for a daylong road ride around Mount Bachelor.
Speaking of Mount Bachelor, you can still head out and play in the snow at Easter time! With one of the longest seasons in the Northwest, Mount Bachelor is usually still operational for all snow sports at Easter. You have many options to choose from, whether you’re experienced or not. They offer lessons in downhill and Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and snowboarding, as well as fun that doesn’t require any particular skill at all, like the Snowblast Tubing Hill. Whether you ski, board, or plan to book a dog sled ride, Mount Bachelor offers all sorts of fun in the snow!

In spring, they offer kayaking on the Deschutes River, volcano tours, and lava tube cave explorations.
