Shanghai Reds Bar & Grill offers some of the freshest seafood and the best blues in the Palm Springs area. The restaurant is located inside Palm Springs’ Fisherman’s Market and Grill and has been voted the best place for seafood in Palm Springs for the past 17 years. Since they are located inside a fish market, they are able to choose and prepare the freshest fish and seafood.
The Menu
This legendary Palm Springs hideaway serves a broad array of fresh seafood, oysters, steaks, pasta dishes, appetizers, strong cocktails, and much more. Shanghai Red’s is known for their seafood pasta and world-famous fish tacos which the late Anthony Bourdain called a “truly extraordinary” fish taco. Their lobster bisque is also a very popular dish, but it is only served Thursday – Sunday.
The Atmosphere
Shanghai Reds in Palm Springs has some seating indoors along a long bar where you can sit and watch the chef cook. However, most of their seating is outside on their intimate open-air patio where they have heaters for when the nights get cool. On Friday and Saturday nights they open up a dance floor on the patio and the Barry Baughn Blues Band plays live R&B. On these nights, the restaurant becomes a lively place where the fresh oyster shooters, cocktails, and beer is flowing. This restaurant is a great spot for a date night, but because of the limited seating, is not recommended for large groups.
Visiting Shanghai Reds in Palm Springs
Shanghai Reds Bar & Grill is open Sunday – Thursday from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. Happy hour is Monday – Friday from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. and they have a late-night happy hour special as well on Sunday from 8 p.m. – close. The Barry Baughn Blues Band plays Friday and Saturday nights from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. and the Smooth Brothers play on Thursday night from 7:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
