Ruddy’s General Store Museum is a Quirky and Fascinating Attraction in Palm Springs

Ruddy’s 1930 General Store Museum is home to the best-preserved collection of American cultural materials from the 1930s—nearly one century ago! The collection has been painstakingly collected over the course of multiple decades, showcasing original American products from the 1930s in their original packaging.

Whether you were alive during the 1930s or simply wax nostalgic when it comes to notions of a quieter, quainter time in our nation’s history, Ruddy’s General Store Museum is the perfect attraction for those interested in the America of old.

The museum was born when founder Jim Ruddy combined his personal collection of unused general store merchandise, lovingly put together over the course of 35 years, with a Midwestern museum he had purchased that exhibited unused Depression Era goods that had been gathered over 40 years. Together, these two stockpiles resulted in the greatest, most complete collection of unused 1930s general store merchandise in America.

From the products to showcases, signs, and fixtures, Ruddy’s General Store Museum presents an authentic Depression Era atmosphere for visitors as they peruse the shelves. The vast majority of the products still have their original contents!

The museum is open from September through May, Thursday through Sunday from 10:00am – 4:00pm.
