Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway Palm Springs

In case you haven’t brushed up on your Palm Springs or Elvis Presley history, here’s a fun fact: The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll himself escaped to Palm Springs for his honeymoon! Learn more details about Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway below, as well as why you won’t want to skip out on seeing it during your vacation in Palm Springs.

Where Elvis’ Burning Love Still Shines Bright

Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway in Palm Springs is a fabulous nearly 5,000 square foot midcentury property, made famous when it hosted the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll and his newlywed wife, Priscilla Presley, during their 1967 honeymoon. Their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, was born in February of 1968, exactly 9 months after the time they spent in Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway. However, Elvis actually leased the property for one year in 1966 as a way to escape his busy life in Los Angeles.

Even before Elvis and Priscilla Presley decided to honeymoon at 1350 Ladera Circle, the Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway had an interesting history. Designed by modernist architect William Krisel, built by renowned Palm Springs developer Robert Alexander in 1962, and dubbed the “House of Tomorrow,” the Alexander family lived at the estate until their untimely deaths in 1965 from a private plane crash. In September of the following year, Elvis Presley leased the property.

The story of Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s marriage is inextricably tied to this marvelous work of midcentury architecture. From hosting Priscilla and her family to botched plans for a wedding on the premises before escaping the press by flying to Las Vegas, to the honeymoon the spent together that may have given rise to Elvis’ 1968 Comeback Special, Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway has history in every corner of its expansive floor plan.

Even elements of Elvis Presley’s Graceland have paid homage to Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway in Palm Springs. The Guest House at Graceland features 2 upstairs suites with themed décor inspired by Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway, incorporating midcentury elements, terra cotta and golden hues, and a serpentine sofa.
