Shopping in Palm Springs

The Downtown and Uptown Design districts in Palm Springs both offer an impressive selection of fashion boutiques, outlets, art galleries, antiques, mid-century modern retailers, and more! We’ve compiled a list of some of our choices for the best shopping in Palm Springs below.

Palm Springs ShoppingArt

Palm Springs has long been a haven for artists and creatives. It’s one of the best places in Southern California to purchase unique, locally made, and incredibly beautiful art. Even if you don’t plan to purchase art during your vacation to Palm Springs, we highly recommend checking out the two art events below!

To get art straight from the artist, peruse the Blackstreet Art District on the first Wednesday of every month. There, you can peruse dozens of locally owned artist galleries and working studios where you can mingle with the artists and designers themselves.

If your trip doesn’t fall on the first Wednesday, don’t worry! Every Thursday evening, Villagefest transforms several downtown blocks into an outdoor art fair showcasing local food, entertainment, and handmade goods. We love buying art directly from artists in Palm Springs!

Clothing

Palm Springs is a unique place to purchase clothing. Its style is stuck in the prim mid-century while simultaneously and boldly embracing Southern California’s obsession with chic bohemian looks.

To get a good idea of Palm Springs shopping couture, head to Lush Couture or Elizabeth & Prince. Although pricey, these two stores have a great selection of classic Southern California style borrowed from the greater Los Angeles.

For a more affordable shopping experience, we highly recommend the Desert Hills Premium Outlets. There, you can find deeply discounted 7 For All Mankind, American Eagle, Alexander McQueen, Ann Taylor, Balenciaga, Barney’s, Brooks Brothers, and much, much more! We think that Desert Hills might be the best high-end outlet in California!

Vintage

A trip to Palm Springs would not be complete without poking around at least a couple of its famous vintage stores. Whether you like to marvel at vintage clothing, vintage homewares, or vintage furniture, there are at least five vintage stores of each to choose from.

We love going to the Sunny Dunes Antique Mall and the Antique Galleries of Palm Springs. Both of these wonderful antique malls have a huge selection of mid-century clothing, furniture, toys, homewares, and anything else you can imagine. They are definitely worth spending a few hours of your Palm Springs shopping trip!
