Though you might think swap meet means mostly second-hand items, it actually mostly isn’t. This is a prime place to pick up the same souvenirs you’d find in Waikiki, for a fraction of the price. Aloha-print clothes, t-shirts, handcrafts, ethnic foods, and so much more are on display as you stroll in circles around the perimeter of the stadium. Just make sure to remember where you parked!
Take in the Gorgeous Views
There’s no doubt about it: Oahu is beautiful, and there are so many ways to see the incredible views. If you’re up for a short but steep hike, you can’t beat the view from the top of Diamond Head; just keep in mind that it gets hot and very crowded, so go as early as possible (like 6 am) for the best experience.
If you don’t feel like hiking, you can check out Honolulu from another angle at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. This volcanic crater is now a final resting place for servicemen and women, and you may have seen it on either the original or the remake of Hawaii 5-0. It offers a spectacular view of Manoa Valley and central Honolulu and is easy to access.
Finally, no girls’ trip to Hawaii and Oahu would be complete without seeing the views from the sea. Hop aboard a catamaran straight from Waikiki Beach, and enjoy the salt spray in your face with a cocktail in hand. Bonus points for the sunset sail!
