Na Pali Makai

Dolphins swim beside you, a whale breaches in the distance, and a rainbow arches over the deep blue Pacific waters. Exploring the famed Na Pali coast by boat is an experience you will never forget. With 4,000-foot green cliffs dropping vertically into the sea below, the rugged 16 miles of coastline on Kauai’s northwest shore are inaccessible by vehicle. To see this amazing stretch of coast, your only Kauai activities options are hiking the difficult 11-mile Kalalau Trail, viewing it from above in a helicopter, or getting up close and personal via boat tour.

Na Pali Makai Tour Details

Hopping aboard one of Na Pali Makai’s boat tours will allow you to view the beauty of both land and sea. Watch the sun turn the cliffs varying shades of green as tropical birds soar above and throughout the lush Kalalau Valley. Observe spinner dolphins, ranging from 1.8 to 2.1 meters in length, play alongside the Te Moana. Explore sea caves that are only accessible by boat. Snorkel and swim at one of Kauai’s best reefs, Makua Bay, also only accessible by boat. Your guide will provide all of your snorkel gear and instructions for delving into the underwater world alongside tropical fish and honu (sea turtles). Refuel aboard the boat with a lunch of sandwiches, chips, fruit, juice, and bottled water. From the months of December to April, you can sail among migrating families of humpback whales and capture them breaching and slapping their tails. Tours run Monday through Saturday. Whether you choose a private or shared tour, your experience will be personalized with a family-feel, as there is a limit of 6 guests per tour. Check in time is at 9:00 am.
