Manawaiopuna Falls

Stand in awe as the mist swirls around you at the bottom of a 400-foot waterfall that very few people get to see up close and personal. Located on private land, Manawaiopuna, known as Jurassic Falls, can only be seen from above, unless you choose a helicopter tour with Island Helicopters, the only company allowed to land at the cascade’s base. With a limited number people aboard each tour and restrictions on how often they’re able to land, seeing this waterfall within the lush Hanapepe Valley up close and personal is a surreal, secluded experience.

Manawaiopuna Fallswas featured in opening scenes of Steven Spielberg’s 1993 hit “Jurassic Park”, giving it its nickname today. Due to its ownership by the Robinson family (also owners of nearby private island Ni’ihau) and its location in a remote, undeveloped area, relatively few people have admired this falls at a close vantage point.
