The Campgrounds at South Twin Lake
You will have plenty of company and amenities when you camp at this lake. They have flush toilets and garbage cans. Lots of people bring their boats and they do have boat docks there. You can have a cookout because they provide fire pits and they even sell firewood right at the site. They offer fresh drinking water and have a dumping site for RVs. You will have to rough it a little, as they offer no electricity and the sites are non-reservable. The sites cost $18.00 a night and they are managed by Hoodoo Recreation Campgrounds, a company that manages 150 such campsites in the area.
The Lake
South Twin Lake Oregonwas formed some 20,000 years ago and was the result of steam explosions caused by magma that encountered ground water when it rose. It is a very popular place to fish for rainbow trout. In addition to fishing, people also kayak, swim and float on this lake. There are no motorized boats allowed on the lake. If it gets too crowded, you can go to North Twin Lake, which is just a mile away. There are many beautiful and well-kept hiking trails in this forest and there are plenty of forest rangers and guides to answer any questions you might have.
