Within the museum’s walls, visitors can learn about the hardships endured by the Native Americans and fur trappers that first explored the area, as well as what life was like for the pioneers who founded modern day Bend. Among the first of Bend’s residents was Ruth Reid, the first teacher in Bend and the Reid School’s only teacher to 241 students during the early 1900s. Explore Bend’s role in the Central Oregon logging industry, which also impacted the day-to-day lives of the city’s people.
