Bend is known for its craft beer, and one of the oldest microbreweries in Oregon is located in Bend. Deschutes Brewery has been brewing beer using the pure, volcano-filtered water of the Deschutes River since 1988.
Tours & Tastings
Deschutes Brewery in Bend is located on the west side of the Bend just across the river from downtown. They offer tours of the brewery daily at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m. Tours cost $5 per person and include a 45-minute walking tour of the facility and a 12-ounce can of beer for guests over 21 years of age to drink while they are on the tour. While all ages are allowed on the tour, it is not recommended for young children as they tend to get a little bored. You do not need to make reservations for a tour; however, it is best to do so if you can, as they often fill up.
The brewery also has a tasting room which is open every day of the week from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. The tasting room offers pours of their staple beers as well as some limited release beers that you can only try at the brewery including their Wayfarer Sour Cider and their Black Butte Cubed.
Deschutes Brewery Menu
In addition to their brewery, Deschutes Brewery also has a public house in downtown Bend. The public house has nearly two dozen of their brews on tap and they have a food menu which features fresh and local ingredients. Many of their dishes are made from scratch at the public house and some of the dishes use spent grain from the brewing process. The public house is open for lunch and dinner and their menu includes salads, sandwiches, pizzas, pub foods, and desserts. Deschutes Brewery in Bend open Sunday – Thursday from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
