While most visitors come to Bend during the winter to ski down Mt. Bachelor, there is also a variety of incredible sightseeing spots that you should check out. These spots bring out the beauty of Oregon and the incredible wilderness surrounding our town. Here are our top winter Bend sightseeing spots to check out in Bend:
If you are ready for a cold hike in the snow, make sure you check out Tumalo Falls during the winter. This incredible hike is beautiful year-round with a flowing waterfall during the summer. However, during the winter you can see glistening ice and snow decorate the shoreline and on top of the water. Make sure to dress up for the hike, as it will be chilly outside!
The views from the summit of Mt. Bachelor are flat out incredible. If you are a ski enthusiast or enjoy a round or two of snowboarding down the mountain, make sure you visit this popular mountain. Mt. Bachelor features your standard ski lifts that will take you from the base up to the summit with an aerial ride that is always a joy. Once you are up top, document your journey with a GoPro or other kind of video equipment that will show your thrilling ride down the mountain. Nothing beats a trip up Mt. Bachelor!
There are only four cities in the United States that have a volcano within its boundaries. Bend is fortunately one of those cities with an extinct volcano just down the road. Pilot Butte is a lava dome that was created as part of this volcano, resulting in a cinder cone butte that reaches 500 feet above the horizon. You will be able to get panoramic views of the area in sweeping shots. The hike up to the scenic point is fairly easy so hikers of all experience levels can enjoy the incredible views up top. Additional sightseeing points outside the city also include Lava Butte, Tumalo Mountain, and Maiden Peak. Expect plenty of snow during the winter that will make these areas harder to trek.
Bend is waiting for your next winter getaway this season. Come check out all of these incredible sights with ease when you rent one of our vacation rentals. Each property is privately owned, giving you plenty of space and luxury amenities local resorts cannot offer.
