Top Kauai Events on the Beach

Kaua’i boasts some truly spectacular beach events. Imagine watching New Year’s Eve fireworks right from your beach chair, watching Samoan fire dancers at the annual Coconut Festival, or feasting on roasted Kalua pig at a luau that’s been called the best on the island. Here are a few of the best Kauai events.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks at Poipu Beach Park

Poipu Beach is beautiful enough on an average day. Come New Year’s Eve, it transforms into one of the most beautiful fireworks displays in the U.S. Imagine a clear night sky and dark blue Hawaiian waters being lit up by a display of brilliant colors. Food trucks supply the grub, and a free family-friendly movie keeps the kids happy. If you’re vacationing on Kaua’i this time of year, don’t miss this event and explore the Kauai events calendar.

Coconut Festival

For a weekend every October, the Kapaa Business Association hosts the Coconut Festival at Kapaa Beach Park on Kaua’i’s east shore. For more than 20 years, this festival has celebrated that most delicious Hawaiian fruit with crafts, games, foods, artists and entertainers. Listen to the music of the taiko drummers, watch the hula dancers, and admire coconut tree climbers. There are kid friendly activities, too, such as a petting zoo and a children’s stage, making it one of the top Kauai events for the entire family.

Smith’s Garden Luau is One of the Top Kauai Events

Located on Kaua’i’s east shore in Wailua, Smith’s Garden luau has been called “the best luau on the island.” The luau’s idyllic backdrop is 30 acres of fruit trees, bamboo forests, and flowers within the Wailua Marina State Park. Whether you’re coming for the luau or not, Smith’s offers a relaxing break from the crowds and a beautiful way to appreciate Hawaii’s rich natural landscape.

At the luau, enjoy a feast of Kalua pig roasted in an imu oven, the Smith’s family teriyaki beef recipe, Ono mahimahi, and chicken adobo. Enjoy the Hawaiian hula, Tahitian drum dances, and Samoan fire knife dance, too. Luaus take place regularly, so check Smith’s website for more information. Admission for adults costs $98, children between 7- and 13-years-old cost $30, and children between 3 and 6 cost $19.

There’s no better way to enjoy the beaches of Kaua‘i than with great music, food and dancing. Kaua’i has plenty where that came from. Contact us today to book one of our vacation rentals and for more information on the Kauai events calendar.
