Hideaway Beach

Hideaway Beach, also known as Pali Ke Kua Beach or Kenomene Beach, is located on the north shore of Kaua’i. It’s a bit more barebones than other beaches, as it doesn’t have any facilities. Don’t let that discourage you, though, as Hideaway is great for snorkeling.

How to Get There

The beach is aptly named. It’s a bit more secluded, requiring a small walk down a steep hiking trail near the Pali Ke Kua Condos. This means Hideaway Beach in Kauai may not be ideal for little kids or those who might have a hard time with a long trek back up. Be careful, as this trail can get very muddy when wet.

You can park at the public parking lot located before the gate house of the Princeville St. Regis Hotel. There are no signs marking the trail. You’ll find it next to the parking lot before the hotel entrance on the right side.

Best for Snorkeling

We recommend this beach if you’re new to snorkeling. It’s a great place to see sea turtles. If you’d rather not trek down the muddy hiking trail, you also can kayak in from Hanalei Bay.

Attractions Near Hideaway Beach in Kauai

Hideaway Beach may be small, but it’s surrounded by a handful of good places to eat and shop. Hideaway Pizza is a short distance away. The St. Regis offers fine dining at the Kaua’i Grill. The Happy Talk Lounge and Bar offers happy hour food, frosty beers, cocktails, and a killer view of the island and ocean.

Safety Tips

You should always check the surf before enjoying the beach. There are several ways to check the surf report first. Ask our staff, check the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website, or browse websites like Surfline to get reports on the water. It’s an important step to staying safe and catching great waves.

Most importantly, always remember that waves are unpredictable. Conditions can change very quickly, so don’t swim alone or without checking the weather and surf reports. Never turn your back on the ocean and avoid swimming in high surf. You may also want to pack some bug repellent; at certain times of the year, the mosquitoes can get bad at Hideaway beach in Kauai.
