Ha Coffee Bar – Kaua’i Things to Do

In Hawaiian, ha means “breath of life.” At Ha Coffee Bar, coffee is a way of life. The spacious and cheery confines of this welcoming café perfectly embody their friendly, community-oriented spirit. Local art decorates the walls, along with plaques proudly proclaiming how Ha was voted Kaua‘i’s best coffee shop in 2016 AND 2017. Working professionals mingle with tourists from across the globe at rugged wooden communal tables carved from local hardwoods. A steady stream of regulars, residents, and visitors alike make use of the central location in Līhu‘e, less than a mile from the beaches, resorts, and vacation rentals on Kaua‘i’s Coconut Coast. Thanks to partnerships with nearby bakeries, a close relationship with their personal coffee roaster, and a long list of neighborhood food vendors, everything Ha serves is fresh, local, and delicious. So whether you prefer single-origin brews, pour over coffee, hand-crafted espresso drinks, or are just looking for a light bite, grabbing a coffee here is one of our favorite Kaua’i things to do.

A Coffee-losophy

Ha is designed to be more lounge and community gathering place than your stereotypical coffee bar. In fact, it is meant not to look like a café at all. The high ceilings and large windows let in plenty of light, making it the ideal place to cozy up with a book or meet your collaborators while planning your next Kaua‘i adventure. When it comes to coffee, Ha wants to make their favorite beverage approachable and accessible. There is no pretense here, they are genuinely happy to talk bean to brew coffee techniques with you, walking you through everything that is possible with this amazing beverage. “Talk story” with the friendly staff for a few minutes and we promise you will find something new to try that just might become one of your favorite Kaua’i things to do when it comes to coffee, whether it is cold brew, French pressed, poured over, single origin, a blend, or a piping hot espresso.

The Menu – Kaua’i Things to do

Like any good organic, fair-trade purveyor of coffee, Ha has a small but delicious menu of fresh and local snacks to keep you powered up during your day. Acai bowls are loaded with fresh local fruits, pastries are piping hot and fresh out of the oven at nearby Heartflame Bakery and Mailani Sweet Treats, and the bagels from Ya Quddus are delish. Load up one of their island-famous cold brew coffees with coconut milk (try it, it’s delicious) so you can beat the heat, then head down to one of the nearby beaches (bonus points if you get going early enough to catch the sunrise). If coffee is not your cup of tea, they also have, well, tea. Lots of it, from all over the world!
