The fun never ends in the Oregon high desert, and the Eagle Crest High Desert Stampede is yet another example of our playfulness! Held at the end of March every year, the Wild West is relived with this exciting event that offers the best of rodeo hijinks. And because this annual event had its first reveal in 2014, when you plan your visit to Oregon during the rodeo, you will be attending something very rare. In the world of rodeos, most have been established and ongoing for decades, if not centuries, and it’s unusual for a new rodeo to become an instantaneous success like the High Desert Stampede.
High Desert Stampede is Held at the Deschutes Fair & Expo March 29 & 30 in 2019
It may sound far away, but time flies even faster the older we get, so even though March is still months away, if you’re like us, it will feel as if it arrives tomorrow! High Desert Stampede starts on Thursday, March 28 with a kick-off celebration that costs nothing to attend. This free prelude to the palominos starts at 5 PM and gives guests the opportunity to meet some of rodeo’s most celebrated performers—and some local celebrities as well! The next day, though, the fun starts in earnest. Slack (the qualifying events) begin at 8 AM, followed by a kids’ roping event at 4:00 PM, (Kids under 7 get in for free on Friday night) and the rodeo begins in earnest at 7 PM. The after party is held at 9 PM and takes place at the Juniper Golf Course; you won’t want to miss a minute of this fun day, trust us!
Tickets for one of our favorite Redmond Oregon events start at $25 for general admission, while the Elite VIP tickets will run you $50 per person and will get you seats so close to the action, you’ll be looking for your own pony to ride! On Saturday, the Bull Pen Beer Garden opens its doors at 5 PM (as it also does on Friday!), allowing you to quench your thirst with your favorite brew as you browse through the vendor stalls looking for souvenirs to bring home. The Rodeo performances start at 7 PM and features the best of rodeo events, including Barrel Racing, Bareback Riding, and so much more! The Eagle Crest High Desert Stampede ends as it ended the night before—with a rocking after party held at Juniper Golf Course, located just down the street from the fairgrounds!
